ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

“Geom3trical Acrobatics” – Where Urban Art Meets Contemporary Vision
French street artist Tim Marsh returns to the vibrant art scene of Hong Kong for his third show with L’Epicerie Fine Art in collaboration with The Stallery, marking a significant artistic milestone in the heart of the city. The exhibition, titled “Geom3trical Acrobatics” promises to be a dynamic showcase of Marsh’s distinctive talent and creative evolution. Born in Paris in 1984, Tim Marsh’s artistic journey is as diverse as his creations. With 15 years dedicated to practicing capoeira, he draws substantial inspiration from this period, infusing tribal motives into his artworks. Transitioning to the fashion industry in 2006, Marsh became a trendsetter for clothing brands and directed the fashion pages for Snatch Magazine until 2011. During this time, Marsh began asserting a more personal style, initially expressed through paintings conceptualizing childhood memories. Evolving into a distinctive architectural style, Marsh composes intricate geometric forms, patterns, and lines, embedding movement within the depths of his two-dimensional works. Tim Marsh’s creations evoke a theatrical mood with a palette of retro-style colors applied with spray paint, acrylic and markers. His compositions are characterized by a fusion of techniques. A perpetual experimenter, Marsh continually explores new supports, drawing from his experience in extreme sports to paint on surf and skateboards or objects of functional conception. Noteworthy collaborations in Hong Kong include wall paintings in collaboration with local street artist Bao Ho, a Dragon in the Blue House neighborhood, and a giant Octopus in Sheung Wan on the Connaught Marina Building. Tim Marsh – Candy CrushThe exhibition title, “Geom3trical Acrobatics” encapsulates Marsh’s dynamic interplay of geometric shapes and acrobatic fluidity in his artistic expressions. Attendees at the opening reception on February 4th, 2024, will witness the unveiling of not only Marsh’s exceptional new artworks but also a uniquely adorned tram in Hong Kong celebrating the Chinese New Year of the Dragon year and the 120th anniversary of the HK tramway. This follows Tim Marsh’s previous tram painting during the HKWalls festival in 2019, showcasing his commitment to integrating art into the city’s vibrant urban landscape. The official opening reception promises to be a celebration of art, culture, and the unique dynamism of Hong Kong with international artists. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Tim Marsh for his venue to the city, explore the intricacies of his creations, and witness the unveiling of the spectacular double-deck tram.
