FEATURED ARTIST
CHANG
Ernest Chang is a Chinese-American multidisciplinary artist in Hong Kong, renowned for his provocative fusion of traditional Chinese art and contemporary pop culture. Born in Tampa, Florida, Chang defies artistic conventions with his bold visual language—an achievement made even more remarkable by his red-green color blindness (deuteranopia).
In 2014, Chang founded The Stallery in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai district, an innovative hybrid space serving as both a creative studio and gallery. His work offers a satirical critique of consumerism, technology, and cultural identity, often reinterpreting iconic imagery to challenge contemporary narratives. Notable exhibitions include T&C: An Art Experiment (2018), Famous by Proxy (2019), Bling Dynasty (2021), which juxtaposes Chinese heritage with global pop icons, and Space Rich (2023), a commentary on material excess and luxury culture.
Chang’s work has been collected internationally and exhibited extensively across contemporary art galleries and major fairs in Hong Kong. With his ability to seamlessly blend cultural heritage, humor, and social commentary, he continues to redefine the boundaries of contemporary art despite his disability, establishing himself as a vital voice in the global art scene.
