YI PAN LONG
In 2010, Shanghai joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and was awarded the title of“Creative City of Design”. SHANGHAI DESIGN WEEK(SHDW) made its first debut in 2022. It is a pivotal milestone not just for an ambitious urban development initiative for Shanghai but also a testament to the vital importance that design as a new primary driver plays for the evolution and resilience of our global city. Organized and guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, SHDW will be performing as a multidisciplinary design event organizer that fosters and celebrates the industrial transformation of excellent designs and an integrated design platform that visualizes an inclusive, innovative and integrated city of Shanghai.
As an empowering project to facilitate the international development of consumer products industry, “2024 Design to Wonderland”will continue to act as a new global site for Shanghai consumer brands, and connect with leading design minds around the world through exhibitions, design forums and events. Focusing on brand ecology, sustainable development and cultural aesthetics, D2W explores the role of design as a driver in industrial innovation, quality of life, as well as urban and social development. YI PAN LONG is a milestone achievement of SHDW DESIGN TO WONDERLAND initiative. It is a groundbreaking sustainable product series that reimagines traditional Chinese cultural elements through the lens of contemporary sustainable design. Originally conceived as a Lunar New Year creation for Shanghai Design Week 2024, this series has evolved into a comprehensive exploration of how cultural heritage can be preserved and celebrated while advancing sustainable design practices.
